The news in today’s world is sobering to say the least.  The whole economy of this world is sick and rapidly approaching a catastrophic collapse. Yet the underlying problems of this world are not economic but rather spiritual in nature. The economic status of this world is merely a symptom of that spiritual sickness. The news out of Europe is equally sobering, yet exciting.

For over 50 years during the last century, the late Mr. Herbert W Armstrong warned of the coming “United States of Europe” as he faithfully proclaimed and published the true gospel of Jesus Christ around the world as a witness unto all nations on the Earth. He completed that commission.

Although the term “United States of Europe” was not originally coined by Mr. Armstrong (it actually began in the late 1800’s), he certainly did use it more than anyone, and indeed he was the only one who truly understood its full significance. In the very first issue of the Plain Truth magazine in 1934 he warned of a resurrected “Holy Roman Empire”, at that time being proclaimed to be resurrected by Benito Mussolini. Mr. Armstrong clearly understood that Daniel’s prophecy of the “King of the South” had completed its end-time fulfillment by the country of Ethiopia. He also understood that Mussolini fulfilled the next to the last fulfillment of that same prophecy’s “King of the North”. The King of the South prophecy has been fulfilled but there is one last fulfillment of the “King of the North” by the final resurrection of the modern Holy Roman Empire.  A NEW EUROPE will soon emerge out of the current financial crises in the European Union. Many political and financial leaders are already calling it a “European Super-state” or a “United States of Europe”. Whatever the final “name” will be, God has already named it long ago in His Word. It will be an economic and military power-house of 10 primary nations (or blocks of nations) within two larger divisions of either north-south or east-west. Those two larger divisions are the two legs or feet in Daniel 2:41-43, and the ten toes represent the ten nations or groups of nations.

As mentioned previously, Mr. Armstrong warned of the resurrected Holy Roman Empire in the very first Plain Truth of Feb. 1934. In the August issue of that same year he warned of the “Beast” prophesied to rise out of Europe and warned even then of a “United States of Europe”.  Below are both issues if anyone cares to download them. Mr. Armstrong continued this warning for over 50 years until his death in 1986. He was always “ahead of his time” and often said so himself. But he continued this warning and what it will lead to (Jacob’s Trouble) through sermons, World Tomorrow Broadcasts, and many of his writings through the years. Even in his last major (and most important book) “Mystery of the Ages”, Mr. Armstrong remained consistent and right on target with this warning. Many “scoffed” at him over the years, but they’re not scoffing so much now days, and the scoffing IS going to STOP and very SOON!

On page 301 of “Mystery of the Ages”, Mr. Armstrong writes: (referring to Daniel 2)

“And in the days of these kings…”—it is here speaking of the ten toes, part of iron and part of brittle clay. This, by connecting the prophecy of Daniel 7, and Revelation 13 and 17, is referring to the new UNITED STATES OF EUROPE that is now forming, out of the European Common Market, before your very eyes!  Revelation 17:12 makes plain the detail that it shall be a union of TEN KINGS OR KINGDOMS that (Rev. 17:8) shall resurrect the old Roman Empire.” (end of excerpt)

On the next page Mr. Armstrong writes:

“Six of those have come and gone. The seventh is now forming—the last, final, brief resurrection of the Roman Empire by ten European groups or nations. These are revealed in Daniel 2 as the ten toes of iron and clay mixed.
    In their days—and it shall last but a very short space, possibly no more than two to three-and-a-half years—shall the GOD OF HEAVEN SET UP A KINGDOM that shall never be destroyed.”  (end of excerpt)

So we can clearly see that Mr. Armstrong was consistent on this teaching from the early 1930’s throughout the years until his death in 1986. Unfortunately today the entire ministry is off track but the true Church of God still proclaims the warning of the Plain Truth about this and all the other teachings that Christ Himself revealed through Mr. Armstrong, that so many today still want to “scoff” at.  This includes many of God’s own people today!

Recent news out of Europe shows they want a new treaty. A treaty with “teeth” and enforcement authority in order to stabilize the European economy. This will no doubt include (for the first time) a POLITICAL union as well. Prophecy shows this will indeed happen. Mr. Armstrong said this will happen.  On the surface, it looks impossible with so many hurdles to overcome, economically and politically. But Mr. Armstrong clearly saw and stated that it would be a “world economic crisis” that would “high pressure” the Europeans to suddenly unite, and perhaps triggered by some "madman" or major terrorist attack.

Economic news reports state that the Euro and Europe is in grave danger of collapsing quickly, and VERY SOON unless something drastic happens. Well I can tell you something drastic (and unexpected) IS GOING TO HAPPEN VERY SOON!  This has been covered extensively in sermons and news updates on the “AUDIO ARCHIVES & SERMONS” pages of this website. Europe is about to undergo a rapid and radical economic and political change that will result in ten economic regions or groups of nations, literally redrawing the map of Europe and it will STUN this world!

God’s Word - the Holy Bible warns of this. Mr. Herbert W Armstrong - God’s end time apostle warned of this. This very work and Church of God website WARNS of this!

For over 50 years of the 20th century, Mr. Armstrong THUNDERED out the plain truth of this and many other prophecies as he fulfilled the great commission of preaching the true gospel of the Kingdom of God throughout the whole world as a witness to all nations.

But today we are in a different "season" of the true gospel, not to preach to the world as a witness, but rather to the very people of God who have departed from that gospel and way of life, and as well to ANY who will heed. So we are in our 10th year of warning God's people and anyone else who would listen or heed. Soon there will be yet another “season” of the true gospel. It will be the last one to use men as human instruments in this age. This will be the testimony of God’s two witnesses. This is the same time period of the “beast” power rising right now in Europe and also the great tribulation.

We know that God has certain numbers He works with that represent certain things. Mr. Armstrong taught us that "40" for example represents a time of "trial and testing", such as the children of Israel having to wander in the wilderness for 40 years. Mr. Armstrong often mentioned in the 1970's and 80's that we were in a time of "testing" or "final exams". He also often said that for "some reason" God had been "holding back" world events that would usher in the return of Jesus Christ. But he knew that it could come suddenly at any time.

At one time (back in the 50's and 60's) the Church thought that things might come to an end in 1972 (though Mr. Armstrong never actually "set" that date) because that year was the end of a 19 year time-cycle. When the end didn't come in 1972, many left the Church. Why? To put it simple: THEY LACKED FAITH! But the Church and the work of God continued on.

What if God was saying to His people in 1972 that: "YOU ARE NOT READY YET!" Actually I believe that's exactly what He was saying or doing. There had to be a time of trials and testing or final exams! Just as Mr. Armstrong said we were in!  My question here is: "Would 40 years be appropriate?" Hasn't God used that 40 year period before in order to prepare a people? Mr. Armstrong suffered heart failure in 1977 and God brought him back from death (by CPR) to, as he said: "put the Church back on track". Could that have been the beginning of a 40 year period of trial and testing to see whether God's people would hold fast to the truth? We cannot know for sure, but this much is true: Mr. Armstrong spent the last seven to nine years of his life getting the Church back on track. And at the time of his death it WAS on track. But look what has happened since!

Years ago, the ministry under Mr. Armstrong used to teach (or advise) that in our personal lives as far as planning and finances that we should have a five-year plan and if possible a ten year plan. Well I can tell you that the time for that type of planning is OVER! The FUTURE is now HERE! This may sound overly “bold” to some, but the warning must go out! Time is NOT going to continue on as normal. We are no longer in “normal” times.  Things are moving VERY fast in Europe and the Middle East. DON’T BE CAUGHT OFF GUARD!

As Mr. Armstrong taught, when this “Beast” rises up out of Europe, that is when the great tribulation or Jacob’s Trouble begins, and it will be the trigger that begins World War III. When this Beast rises up, it will be full blown & full grown, NOT a “baby” beast.  Yet it will only last a short period. But during that short period, it wields GREAT POWER! The GOOD NEWS in all of this is that it shows how close we are to the return of Jesus Christ and the establishing of His Kingdom!  Indeed it is His very return that crushes this Beast power!

Below I have posted the two 1934 Plain Truth magazines mentioned earlier. Also posted is Mr. Armstrong’s booklet entitled “Who or What is the Prophetic Beast?” (originally published in 1952) The last section of that booklet covers the MARK OF THE BEAST (1960). Do you know what that mark is? Or do you remember? Better KNOW what it is or you may suffer the plagues coming upon this earth!

Let this article or page serve as a warning and wakeup call to any who will listen and heed. It’s time to “plan” for the arrival of God’s Kingdom!
